Roberto Pugliese is a sound artist, composer, researcher, curator and inventor.

Roberto Pugliese (Naples, 1982) is a sound artist, composer and researcher. He studied Electronic Music at the San Pietro a Majella Conservatory of Music in Naples with Agostino Di Scipio.

His research draws its energy primarily from Sound Art and kinetic and programmed art. Through software-controlled mechanical devices, sensors, robotic systems and acoustic phenomena, he investigates relationships between sound, space, matter, perception and technology.

Sound becomes both an object of research and a sculptural material: a force capable of activating sculpture, transforming space and connecting natural and artificial processes. Feedback, resonance, vibration, movement, data and generative systems recur throughout his practice as parts of the same investigation.

He is tenured Professor of Multimedia at the San Pietro a Majella Conservatory of Music in Naples and curator of Contemporarily Timeless, a project by Fondazione Pietà de’ Turchini devoted to contemporary Sound Art.

His works have been presented in museum, institutional and contemporary-art contexts in Italy and abroad. Equilibrium is part of the permanent collection of ZKM Karlsruhe; in 2013 he received an Honorary Mention at Ars Electronica. In 2025 Industrial Equilibrium was presented at the 18th Quadriennale d’Arte di Roma.
