A recent study that reinforces and further details the previous ones on the melting of ice and conducted by researchers at the University of Colorado-Boulder has established that the rise in sea level caused by global warming is accelerating and by the end of the century about 7% of world population, including the inhabitants of Venice and other Italian coastal cities, risks ending up submerged, with immense damage and inconvenience.
The article appeared on February 12, 2018 in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and was developed using data provided since 1993 by various satellites in orbit around the Earth such as TOPEX/Poseidon, Jason-1, Jason - 2 and Jason-3.
According to the authors, the results of their research represent a qualitative leap in the discussion on climate change, transforming it from a dispute based on hypothetical assumptions to a discussion based on scientific data and objective observations. This occurs above all thanks to the possibility of being able to access precise measurements provided daily by artificial satellites gravitating around the Earth.
In the exhibition space there are 5 pipes filled with water. At the base of each tube is an exciter which produces a sound synthesis, the parameters of which change in real time, based on data from 5 sea level monitoring stations (Valencia, Alicante, Cadiz, A Coruña and Vigo) which they arrive via the Internet.
The work wants to bear witness to the environmental disaster that is taking place before our eyes without politics seriously doing anything to rethink a more sustainable lifestyle.

Un recente studio che rafforza e circostanzia ulteriormente quelli precedenti sullo scioglimento dei ghiacci e condotto da ricercatori dell'Università del Colorado-Boulder ha stabilito che l'innalzamento del livello del mare causato dal riscaldamento globale sta accelerando ed entro fine secolo circa il 7% della popolazione mondiale, compresi gli abitanti di Venezia e di altre città costiere italiane, rischia di finire sommersa, con immensi danni e disagi.
L'articolo è apparso il 12 febbraio del 2018 sugli Atti della National Academy of Sciences ed è stato messo a punto usando i dati forniti dal 1993 ad oggi da vari satelliti in orbita intorno alla Terra come TOPEX/Poseidon, Jason-1, Jason -2 e Jason-3.
Secondo gli autori, i risultati della loro ricerca rappresentano un salto di qualità nella discussione sui cambiamenti climatici, trasformandola, da disputa basata su supposizioni ipotetiche, una discussione fondata su dati scientifici e su osservazioni oggettive. Ciò avviene soprattutto grazie alla possibilità di poter accedere a misurazioni precise fornite quotidianamente dai satelliti artificiali gravitanti intorno alla Terra.
Nello spazio espositivo ci sono 5 tubi pieni d'acqua. Alla base di ogni tubo c'è un eccitatore che produce una sintesi sonora, i cui parametri cambiano in tempo reale, sulla base dei dati di 5 stazioni di controllo del livello del mare (Valencia, Alicante, Cadice, A Coruña e Vigo) che arrivano via Internet.
L'opera vuole testimoniare il disastro ambientale che sta avvenendo sotto i nostri occhi senza che la politica faccia seriamente nulla per ripensare uno stile di vita più sostenibile.
